Hypnotherapists can treat clients for a wide range of medical disorders from asthma, depression and bedwetting to cancer pain, eating disorders and gastrointestinal problems. One would think that someone with so much power over the human body would need a full college degree and medical training. However, since hypnosis techniques are found to be completely safe, certification is not heavily regulated in the United States. Under hypnosis

Hypnosis has been used for various ailments ranging from obesity to smoking. The premise behind hypnosis is that when one is under hypnosis, an altered state of consciousness occurs; their attention is more focused and they are more open to suggestions. This is the way in which hypnotists will usually help someone who is struggling with an addiction or other affliction. No matter why a person has gone to a hypnotherapist, they may have some doubts about the true helping nature of the art of hypnosis. Many myths surround this unusual, but effective, mode of treatment and if one is not careful, then they may not get the sufficient help they need because of their beliefs.
