If the person is going to be fully prepared for hypnosis, then they should be wearing comfortable clothing which is not too tight. Then they should remove their shoes and lie down in a place of their choice, where they can feel most relaxed.

When the person is in position, the hypnotist should begin the process by telling them that they must begin to relax all the muscles across the body. The patient should also slow down their breathing and be is inactive and relaxed as possible. Raising the finger or using some other sign which requires minimal effort should be used as a sign to tell the hypnotist that they are entering into a state of trance.

When a perfect state of trance is bought about, and the patient is hypnotised, then the hypnotist should start by asking them some well crafted questions and telling them to focus one hundred percent on a particular thought or theme while shutting out everything else that is one their mind. The reason for the hypnosis taking part in the first place should be thoroughly discussed before starting.

When the session reaches its end, it is important to take care and use patience when taking the person out of their hypnotic trance. It may take some time, but this is normal for bringing the subject back to a normal awareness.
